Whakahonohono Mai

The women’s Whakahonohono Mai empowerment programme begun with a blast.  There were ten ladies in attendance with five more expected to join next week.  From the introductions the one thing I noted they all had in common was to simply invest in themselves.  Something they have neglected to do with family taking a priority or toxic relationships tearing down their self-confidence.   It is saddening to see our beautiful women reduced to this point that they need to be taught how to invest in themselves all over again.   As they left each lady was given a jar of lavender sugar scrub for their hands.  It may only be a small gift, but it is one step in the right direction to pamper themselves. The staff are excited to watch these ladies grow in confidence and reignite the passion for life that once burnt bright.   The enthusiasm from the ladies as they passed my office door was indication enough that they will be back next week.  The feedback from the group travelling from Te Awamutu was that the ladies were buzzing all the way home.
